Best Home Renovation

Home renovation contractor

Best Home Renovation plans and builds kitchens, bathrooms, basements and full home updates. Licensed trades and Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) coverage on every job. You get a written quote before any work starts.

How to choose a home renovation contractor

Choose the one who puts three things in writing. That means proof of insurance and WSIB, a quote that prices each part, and a dated plan. Then ask who pulls the permits and ask to see a finished job like yours. If a contractor will not put it on paper, keep looking.

Services

What we build

Kitchens, bathrooms and basements are the core of what we build. We also do floors, tile, drywall, paint, plumbing, electrical and full home work. Best Home Renovation is a home renovation company with its own crew. We act as the general contractor for your home renovation, so we hire, schedule and check every trade for you. One crew lead runs the job from the first visit to the final walk-through. We work with homeowners, landlords adding a basement suite, and small shop and office owners. Read what each service includes or see how a project runs.

Kitchen renovations

New cabinets, counters, lighting and layout. We open walls when that helps the layout and keep the plumbing where it is when it does not.

Bathroom renovations

Tile, tubs, glass showers and good fans. Waterproofed the right way so it stays dry for years.

Basement finishing

Bedrooms, rental suites, home gyms and play rooms. Permits, insulation and an exit window you can climb out of are part of the plan.

Flooring and hardwood

Hardwood, engineered wood, laminate and vinyl plank. We level the floor underneath first. Then we lay the new floor.

Tile and stone

Floors, walls, backsplashes and showers. Straight lines and tight grout. No tile edge sits higher than the one next to it.

Drywall and painting

Repairs, new walls, smooth ceilings and two coats of good paint. We tape and cover everything we do not paint.

Plumbing and electrical

Licensed plumbers and electricians on every job that needs them. Permits pulled. Ontario's electrical safety body, the ESA, checks the wiring.

Full home and commercial

Whole-house updates, additions and small shop and office renovations. One crew and one number to call.

Process

How a project runs

A project runs in four steps. You call, we visit and quote in writing, we set permits and dates, then we build and walk you through at the end. You always know what happens next and who is doing it.

Contractor marking up a floor plan with a pencil and ruler
  1. Call or send the form

Tell us the room, the rough size, and what you want to change.

  2. Site visit and written quote

We measure and talk through options. Then we send a quote that prices each part on its own line. No fee.

  3. Plan, permits and dates

We pick finishes together and pull the permits. Then we set a start date you can plan around.

  4. Build, clean up, walk-through

A crew lead is on site every day. We sweep up before we leave. You sign off at the end.

Why us

Why people hire us again

People hire us again because the quote is the price and the house stays clean while they live in it. The six things below are what we do on every job. Read about the crew and how we work.

One person to call

Your crew lead answers the phone, not a call centre.

Written quotes, line by line

You see what each part costs before you say yes. Changes get their own line in the quote before the work is done.

Licensed trades on every job

Our plumbers and electricians are licensed. We pull the permits and book the inspections.

A clean site, every day

We cover the floors and put up dust walls. Tools are packed by 5 PM. You still live here while we work.

The dates we agreed

We give real dates and we tell you early if anything shifts.

WSIB and liability insurance

If something happens on your property, you are covered.

Good to know

Before you hire a renovation contractor

Six questions people search before they call a contractor, answered straight. More answers are on our FAQ page.

What is the most expensive part of a house to renovate?

The kitchen is the most expensive room to renovate in most houses. Cabinets and counters cost the most, and moving plumbing or wiring adds more. A bathroom comes next because of waterproofing, tile and the trades it needs. We show each of these as its own line in the quote, so you can see where the money goes.

What are the biggest home renovation mistakes?

The biggest mistake is starting without a written quote that prices each part. The next ones we see most are skipping the permit, moving plumbing that did not need to move, and buying finishes before the room is measured. A dated plan and a crew lead who answers the phone fix most of them.

What is the best way to finance a home renovation?

Ask your bank about a home equity line of credit or a renovation loan, and compare the rate with paying from savings. Our quote shows the cost of each part, so you know the full number before you borrow. You pay in stages as the work is done, and the last payment comes after the walk-through.

What is the $7500 home renovation tax credit?

It is the federal Multigenerational Home Renovation Tax Credit. It started at $7,500. For the 2025 tax year it pays back 14.5 percent of up to $50,000 in costs, so $7,250 at most. You can claim it when you build a self-contained second unit, like a basement suite. The unit must let a senior, or an adult who qualifies for the disability tax credit, live with a relative. Check the current rules on canada.ca.

What not to say to a general contractor?

Do not say "just start and we will sort out the price later." Every job needs a written price first. Do not hide your real budget either, because a real number lets us plan the room around it. And never agree to cash with no contract. The paper protects you.

FAQ

Questions people ask on the first call

If yours is not here, call and ask.

No, our estimates are free, with no fee and no pressure. We visit, measure, and send a written quote that prices each part on its own line.

Usually, yes: a finished basement in Toronto needs a building permit if you add a bathroom or bedroom, move walls, or add plumbing or wiring. Paint and new flooring alone do not. We pull the permits and book the inspections.

Most of our kitchens take three to six weeks once the cabinets arrive. We give you a dated plan before we start.

Yes, most clients live in their house during the renovation. We seal off the work area and cover the floors. We clean up at the end of each day.

Yes, we carry liability insurance, and everyone on site is covered by WSIB. WSIB is Ontario's workplace injury insurance. We can show you the clearance certificate before we start.

We ask for a deposit to book your dates, then payments at set stages you agree to in the quote. The last payment comes after your walk-through.
